It’s understandable to see how you could think it’s a magic strategy that allows you to achieve financial freedom. If you find the right strategy, you’ll automatically find your path to financial freedom, right?
It’s time to start seeing life through the eyes of abundance.
In order to help keep your mind focused on financial freedom and the abundance surrounding that, it’s essential that you ask yourself three powerful questions.
These are the three pillars of everything we do, from our business right through to our personal lives.
1) What do I want?
2) Why does it matter?
3) Who must I become?
These sound simple enough but they are not easy. In fact, they require a lot of soul searching.
The world is full of distractions so it may take some time before you can truly answer these questions.
Think on them. Dwell on them. Twist and turn them over in your mind (and revise as necessary every quarter to six months).
WHAT DO I WANT?
An extremely powerful question.
One of our favorite quotes comes from Henry Ford who invented the Ford Motor Company and fundamentally changed transportation.
“If I ask people what they wanted, they would have told me faster horses.”
When we sit down and we ask this question when creating our financial plan, we see that most people have this nebulous, unformed idea of what retirement might look like.
Feel that way about the question, too?
What EXACTLY do I want?
When do I want it?
What will it look like, feel like, smell like, taste like?
Ask yourself what you TRULY want inside your financial future.
This step is KEY and clarity on the answers to this question will drive you forward.
WHY DOES IT MATTER?
It may be a cliche term but there is a reason why every financial, self-help and personal improvement group asks you to know what your WHY is. It’s a vital part of being a human.
KNOWING YOUR WHY KEEPS YOU FROM DRIFTING THROUGH LIFE
If your why revolves around a strong family bond, is your financial plan (and the life you live while pursuing it) aligned with that why?
We often reason with ourselves that we can stand long hours at the office, or trip after trip away from our family, for the sake of some nebulous “why” we hope will come about in the next 40 years.
Take time to really think though WHY you want what you want. This will become your guiding light.
WHO MUST I BECOME?
Asking yourself whom you have to become involves taking everything out of your head and your heart and putting it into an actionable strategy.
THIS IS THE SINGLE MOST FRIGHTENING QUESTION WE CAN ASK OURSELVES.
It is scary because we are forced to look in the mirror and admit we are not yet who we must become to reach our goals.
Life is a process and we have to realize there is no end point to our journey. We are working constantly to become who we know we were meant to be.
WE MUST PUSH OURSELVES TO CHANGE EVERY SINGLE DAY
The mindset to achieve financial freedom begins with being willing to ask yourself bigger and more empowering questions.
Einstein said that “The most important skill set that anyone can have out there is having the ability to imagine a greater possibility, a greater future than they have right now”.
Ask yourself why you are not getting what you want.
The truth? You’re not yet the person that can achieve that goal. Once you accept that the control lies within yourself and that you can change your roots to produce different fruit, your whole mindset will open up.
You’ll do almost anything if you know what you want, your why, and who you must become to do this.
With this mindset, you’ll be empowered to do almost anything you need to do to achieve that mission, to hit any target.
